Overview

Discovering Hidden Gems in Moroccan Sahara

Day 1: Bounou – Sidi Boshak – KrayAt Jmal

We start our journey from the village of Bounou with a caravan of camels to explore the stunning and enchanting parts of the great desert. After about 3 hours of walking, we take a lunch break in the shade of the Tamarisk trees at Lbour. After another 3 hours on camelback and/or hiking, we set up our camp at KrayAt Jmal, where the Tamarisk trees provide shelter.

Day 2: KrayAt Jmal – Oued Laatash

We continue through the magical Sahara desert, enjoying lunch in the dunes of Lotide. After 3 hours of walking, we set up our camp in Oued Laatash, a dry riverbed historically fed by water from the Benny Mountains. Here, we find small dunes and plenty of Tamarisk trees.

Day 3: Oued Laatash – Great Dunes of Erg Chegaga

After breakfast, we continue our trek with the camel caravan. Before reaching the dunes of Erg Chegaga, we pause for lunch and a cup of tea at a sacred oasis, where a small group of palm trees offers shade. Our journey continues until we arrive at the majestic dunes of Erg Chegaga, where we enjoy the sunset from the high dunes, experiencing a profound sense of peace and tranquility. We then descend to spend the night in a comfortable camp, complete with beds, showers, and private tents. Dinner is shared around a large fire, where we play music together.

Day 4: Erg Chegaga – Bounou

In the early morning, we can watch the sunrise from the top of the dunes, starting our last day with the beautiful morning light in mind! After breakfast under the restaurant tent, we return to the village of Bounou by 4×4 jeep, the “Gateway to the Moroccan Desert.
