The Instrumental for Sahara. Lyrics: A ballad of dark queen echoes through night As he flees the curse of gods, the pharaoh's wrath 1001 nights unseen The philosopher and the queen Ancient mariner in a sea of sand The burning beauty his tomb to die for 1001 nights unseen The philosopher and the queen Horizon's swarming with death Run! Heaven has a darkened face Dunes are soaring, as on a chase Caravan of the cursed Chasing him across the waves May he now rest under aegis of mirage As the sands slowly turn to Elysian fields 1001 nights unseen The philosopher and the queen

The Tour De Woof
The Tour De Woof
Beginning December 12, Sahara sets out on a journey to support a cause close to her heart and ours! Sahara is going to travel around mainland Australia visiting and raising awareness for animal rescue shelters. For every kilometre she travels, Jetpets will donate 10 cents to an aminal rescue organization in Australia, which will go a long way in assisting many other animals in similar situations to Sahara's this time last year. As Sahara has never been around Australia before she will also visit some major landmarks along the way. Sahara's exciting travels will see her depart Melbourne for Sydney, then on to the Gold Coast (including taking in Brisbane,) Townsville, Darwin and Perth before she returns home to her Jetpets family in Melbourne. We believe with Sahara undertaking this journey it will raise the profile of the plight of the rescue shelters across Australia and the many animals that they handle, who generally rely on support from sponsors and the local community only.

Tunisian stew rich in tradition
Tunisian stew rich in tradition
Merely a stone's throw away from the Algerian border is the Tunisian town of Nefta. The large oasis town became a trading hub, with routes spread across the Sahara desert, and over the centuries people of various nationalities and countries contributed to the flow of gastronomic influences. While villagers now reside in proper houses, they still choose to spend the summer season in the oasis, preparing and savoring a local dish called zitouna. Berber women cook the lamb in a stew of tomato sauce, onions, and flavor it with hot peppers and olives -- ingredients which have been derived from the Romans, Turks, Arabs and Pheonicians. Such multicultural influence has distinguished Tunisian cuisine from the rest of its neighbours, and desert gastronomy in particular is deeply rooted in tradition. Ammar Esseghir says his family visits the oasis on a weekly basis and prefers to cook a meal on a bonfire instead of a gas stove. Stews have withstood the effects of time and modern preparation methods, and the Berber people are loyal to their traditions even though Tunisia is a rapidly developing country. SAHEL, THE WOUNDED FRONTIER: DJIBOUTI
In spite of the dryness and hopeless view, the Sahara is a territory of immense open lands in which life beats, irrigated by the rivers Senegal, Niger and Nile. Over the centuries, incredible civilizations have emerged here and black and white people, Coptic, Christian, Jews and Muslims, nomadic shepherds, fishermen and sedentary farmers have all cohabited. We travel across this land to narrate the stories of the men and women at Sahel, their trials for survival at the verge of desertification and the falling of their ancestral way of life.

This Emmy Award-nominated one-hour special was produced, directed, written and edited by Red Line Films. It featured a 40-year old mother of two Ruth Marie Milliman, who battled her way to a shocking second place finish. MONUMENTAL HUMANITARIAN FOOD CRISIS: "Millions of Lives at Risk" in Drought-Stricken Africa!
MONUMENTAL HUMANITARIAN FOOD CRISIS: "Millions of Lives at Risk" in Drought-Stricken Africa!
Vast portions of west and central Africa have become so dry that they can't support crops, livestock and the millions of people who live there. The Sahel - a belt of arid land that stretches across Africa below the Sahara Desert - is a zone prone to cycles of drought, and eight countries are seeing the worst of it this time. The United Nations estimates that more than 10 million people are in danger of starving to death. Aid workers on the ground say it's getting worse quickly. In response, UNICEF is launching a 24-hour social media campaign on Tuesday to raise awareness about the food crisis in Africa. Called #SahelNOW, the campaign asks users on Facebook, Twitter and other social media to post messages over the day Tuesday to boost awareness of the problem and the estimated 1 million children in danger. What can you do? UNICEF asks the public to post videos about the problem, tweet out messages, use Facebook statuses to share and more in the #SahelNOW campaign. (Check out more here) Aid workers on the ground say the situation is rapidly deteriorating. "It's related to the lack of rains in 2011 and the drought," said David Gressly, UNICEF's regional director. "People are trying to cope with that by selling their personal belongings - cattle, livestock," he said. "They're pulling children out of school to adapt to this." US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton recently announced the US will earmark $120 million in emergency assistance for the humanitarian crisis unfolding ...
